A 66-step limestone staircase carved by enslaved Bahamians in the 1790s, leading up to Fort Fincastle and panoramic views of Nassau harbor. About 15 minutes on foot from the dock — the walk passes through residential Nassau, which gives a very different feel than Bay Street.

The closest swimmable beach to the cruise port — about a 15-minute walk west along the harbor. Public, no entry fee, and bars and chair rentals on-site. Not the most beautiful beach in the Bahamas, but it's free, easy, and you can be back on the ship in 20 minutes.

A 10–15 minute taxi ride west of the port. Long, soft white sand, calmer water than Junkanoo, and you can post up on the public sand for free or pay to use a hotel's pool/loungers. Better swimming and prettier scenery than the in-town beaches.

The covered Straw Market sells handmade Bahamian crafts alongside imported souvenirs. Haggle politely — opening prices are roughly 2x what locals expect. Bay Street has duty-free jewelry, perfume, and liquor at prices that beat US retail but rarely beat Costco or online.

Nassau is your only non-Castaway stop on a 3-night cruise. The downtown experience is fine for an hour of souvenir browsing but isn't the highlight of the day — plan a real activity.
