Cozumel is a 30-mile-long Mexican island just off the Yucatán coast and one of the busiest cruise ports in the world. Disney ships dock at one of three piers — Punta Langosta (downtown San Miguel), International Pier, or Puerta Maya — and the dock you draw matters: Punta Langosta puts you in the middle of San Miguel's shopping district, the other two require a short taxi ride into town.
Cozumel's real draw is what's under the water. The Mesoamerican Reef sits just offshore — the second-largest barrier reef on Earth, with visibility regularly exceeding 100 feet, healthy coral, and a marine park system that has protected the best sections for decades. Palancar Reef, Colombia Reef, and El Cielo are bucket-list snorkel and dive sites.
Above water, Cozumel offers something for every cruise family: full-service beach clubs (Mr. Sancho's, Paradise Beach, Nachi Cocom) with all-inclusive day passes that beat anything in the Bahamas; Mayan ruins on the island (San Gervasio) and a ferry-and-bus route to the spectacular ruins at Tulum; an expanded San Miguel shopping district with genuinely fair-priced silver, vanilla, and tequila; and authentic Yucatecan food at a fraction of cruise-ship prices.
