Måløy is a small fishing town on the island of Vågsøy on Norway's outer coast. Disney ships dock right in the town center. It's a very small port — population about 3,000 — and the cruise day is built around the rugged outer-island scenery rather than urban exploration.
The signature image is the Kannesteinen, a mushroom-shaped rock carved by 30,000 years of Atlantic wave action. Refviksanden Beach (one of Norway's few real sandy beaches) and the Kråkenes lighthouse are the other coastal highlights.
The activities Disney cruise families consistently rate highest, ranked by popularity and quality, not by what an excursion desk wants to sell.

Best for: Sightseers
A 1.5-kilometer white-sand beach on the island's outer side. Cold water but stunning views — sometimes called Norway's most beautiful beach.
Best for: Beach break
A 19th-century lighthouse on Norway's westernmost cliffs. Now a 4-room guesthouse with a small café — dramatic Atlantic views.
Best for: Photographers
A short walking loop through Måløy's small town center, the harbor, and Norway's WWII memorial.
Best for: Easy half-day
Måløy has no public transit out to the coastal attractions — a Disney excursion is essentially required to see Kannesteinen or Refviksanden. Town walking is free and quick.
$95 per person
Bus tour with Kannesteinen, Refviksanden, and Kråkenes stops. Disney guarantees return.
Pack windproof layers — the outer coast is exposed and cold even on sunny days.
Free
Walk Måløy, the harbor, lunch, browse the small shops.
There's a small fish market at the harbor — local kippers and salmon make decent souvenirs.
Local spots and notable bites worth leaving the ship for — or that work well as a quick shore-side break.
📍 Måløy town
A traditional Norwegian bakery in the center — skillingsbolle, lefse, lunch sandwiches.
📍 Måløy harbor
Harborfront restaurant in a converted boathouse. Fresh fish, simple Norwegian menu.
Things that make a real difference with little kids on a port day.
Måløy is the smallest of Disney's Norway ports — don't expect a "city" experience.
The coastal excursion is worth it; the town alone is a quick visit.
Pack windproof layers — Atlantic-coast Norway is reliably windy.
Money-saving and time-saving tricks most cruisers learn the hard way.
💡 WWII history
Måløy was the site of Operation Archery, a British commando raid in 1941. A small memorial near the pier explains the operation.
💡 Sandwiches from the bakery for the bus
Bakery lunch sandwiches are cheaper and more substantial than excursion stops — buy before boarding the tour bus.
Måløy is best in mid-summer (June–August). Outer coast wind makes shoulder seasons less pleasant.
| Months | Weather | Crowds |

| Jun | 50s, cool, windy | Moderate |
| Jul – Aug | 60s, mild | High |
| Sep | 50s, fall | Lower |
Måløy's outer-Atlantic exposure makes it cooler and windier than inland fjord ports.
Most Norwegian cruise ports have walkable old towns within a 15-minute flat walk of the pier.
Norwegian taxis are expensive but reliable and most accept credit cards.
Cheap and frequent; pay with credit card or contactless on most buses.
