Cartagena (the Spanish one — not the Colombian) is a 3,000-year-old port founded by the Carthaginians on Spain's southeast coast. Disney ships dock at a pier 5 minutes' walk from the city center, making it one of the easiest pier-to-old-town walks in Europe.
The headline attraction is the Roman Theater, only rediscovered in 1988 and meticulously restored. The downtown also has a strong concentration of modernist (Art Nouveau) architecture and the Spanish National Museum of Underwater Archaeology.
The activities Disney cruise families consistently rate highest, ranked by popularity and quality, not by what an excursion desk wants to sell.

Money-saving and time-saving tricks most cruisers learn the hard way.
💡 Carthago Nova history
Cartagena was founded by Hannibal's family — the city's name is "New Carthage." The Punic Wall museum tells this pre-Roman history.
💡 Murcia day trip
Murcia city is 40 minutes inland — a less-touristed Spanish provincial capital with its own cathedral and tapas scene.
