Pixar Day at Sea 2027 is coming back to the Disney Fantasy, and it is one of the more fun reasons to pick a specific sailing instead of just the cheapest one. Disney is running the celebration on nine 5-night Bahamian-style sailings out of Port Canaveral between late January and late April 2027. If your family quotes Toy Story, Inside Out, or The Incredibles on a regular basis, this is the themed sailing to look at.
Here is what the day includes, the exact dates, what costs extra, and a few planning tips we would give a friend.
What Is Pixar Day at Sea?
Pixar Day at Sea is a themed overlay on a regular Disney cruise. Nothing about the ship changes: you still get rotational dining, the Broadway-style shows, the kids' clubs, and the AquaDuck. What gets added is a day of Pixar programming, with characters, parties, games, and a themed dinner layered on top of the normal schedule.
Two things are worth knowing up front. First, most of the programming is included in your fare. Second, Disney has loosened the format over the years: it used to be strictly one sea day, and the programming can now be spread across the cruise, so check the schedule in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once your booking is linked.
Pixar Day at Sea 2027 Sailing Dates
All nine sailings are on the Disney Fantasy, depart from Port Canaveral, and run five nights. The 2027 departure dates are:
- January 24, January 29, and February 7
- February 12 and February 21
- April 4, April 9, April 18, and April 23
Itineraries are Bahamian, with a stop at Disney's Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and, on some sailings, Castaway Cay. The January 29 sailing is listed as a Western Caribbean itinerary on our sailings page, so confirm the route for the exact date you like. You can compare prices side by side on the January 24 sailing and the April 9 sailing, and the full list is filterable by ship and date.
Pixar Characters You Can Expect to Meet
Lineups vary by sailing, but the usual cast includes Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie from Toy Story; Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone; Joy and Sadness from Inside Out; Mike and Sulley; Miguel from Coco; Remy; and Dug, Russell, and Carl from Up. Some of the most popular meet-and-greets have been reservation-only on past sailings, so look for those in the Navigator app early.
Unscheduled sightings
Not every character appearance is on the schedule. Pixar friends turn up around the ship, which is a nice reason to keep a phone ready for photos during ordinary moments.
Deck Parties, Pool Fun, and Games
Pixar Pals Celebration
The signature deck party happens on the pool deck stage, with characters singing and dancing alongside guests. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes early for a spot with a good view. Younger kids do best near the front but off to one side, where there is room to wiggle.
Crush's pool party and Edna Mode's style show
Crush hosts a pool party with games, and Edna Mode's Style on Parade is a costume-friendly runway moment. If your kids like dressing up, pack Pixar-themed outfits. There is also a costume celebration in the atrium.
Movies, shorts, trivia, and crafts
Expect Pixar films and shorts, trivia, and activities in the kids' spaces. These fill the gaps between the big events without any planning from you.
Pixar Day at Sea Dining
The rotational dining rooms serve a Pixar-themed dinner menu on the celebration night, and quick-service spots and cafes offer themed treats and drinks. Two experiences are worth planning around. The Hey Howdy breakfast with Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye is complimentary but requires a reservation, as does the Anyone Can Cook session. Reservations typically open 30 days before sailing, and the breakfast is popular. Treats at Sweet on You Ice Cream and Sweets cost extra and can sell out. Our Disney cruise food guide covers the rest of the dining options on board.
How to Plan Pixar Day at Sea with Kids
- Pick the sailing around your calendar first. Late January and early February sailings overlap fewer school breaks than April, which can affect both crowds and fares.
- Set a reminder for the reservation window. The character breakfast and cooking session are the two things families most often miss.
- Link your booking to the Navigator app early. That is where meet times, showtimes, and reservation windows live.
- Plan a quiet break. If things get busy, the Senses Spa, the Quiet Cove adults-only pool (for the grown-ups), or a calmer dining room give everyone a reset.
- Use onboard credit on the extras. Themed treats, photos, and merchandise are exactly what credit is for. Our onboard credit guide explains how it works.
- Know your embarkation day. Our Port Canaveral embarkation walkthrough helps the first day go smoothly.
Pixar vs. Marvel vs. Seasonal Sailings
Disney runs several of these themed overlays. If your family leans toward superheroes, our Marvel Day at Sea 2027 guide covers the Disney Magic sailings from Galveston. If you want a seasonal feel, our Halloween on the High Seas guide is worth a read. For toddlers and younger kids, Pixar is usually the gentlest of the three.
The Bottom Line
Pixar Day at Sea 2027 is a good fit for families with kids roughly 3 to 10, and for any adult who grew up on Toy Story. The nine Disney Fantasy sailings run January through April 2027, the programming is mostly included, and a couple of the best experiences need advance reservations. Pick your date, mark your reservation window, and pack the costumes.
