Every booking window, deadline, and pro tip — organized by days before sailing. Never miss Palo, a Castaway Cay excursion, or your check-in window again.
Disney Cruise Line opens ALL booking windows — excursions, specialty dining, spa appointments, and online check-in — at exactly midnight Eastern Time (ET). If you're in another time zone, that's:
Popular options like Palo dinner and Castaway Cay excursions sell out in minutes — sometimes seconds. Set your alarm or you will miss your window.
GatGrid concierge tip: When you plan with our concierge, your personal specialist converts every booking window to your local time zone and sends reminders before each deadline — so you never have to do time zone math.
Your tier determines how early you can book excursions, specialty dining, and spa appointments. Use the selector below to find your booking window.
First-Time Cruiser
Welcome to the magic! You'll have the 75-day booking window for excursions and specialty dining. Get on that midnight ET alarm ASAP.
Your booking windows open at:
⏰ 75 days before sailing — excursions, specialty dining & spa (midnight ET)
⏰ ~40 days before sailing — online check-in (midnight ET)
Day of Booking
Double-check your sailing date, ship, stateroom category and exact location (midship vs. forward/aft, verandah vs. oceanview), and all passenger names. Names must match passports exactly — corrections cost money and time.
If this is your first Disney Cruise, enroll in the Castaway Club loyalty program immediately. It's free and automatically tracks your cruises to unlock earlier booking windows as you move up tiers.
Travel insurance enrollment windows vary — some 'cancel for any reason' policies require purchasing within 14–21 days of your initial deposit. Don't wait on this decision.
Download the Navigator app now so you're ready when booking windows open. This app is your hub for excursions, dining reservations, activity schedules, character times, and shipboard communication.
120+ Days Out
Pearl Castaway Club members (25+ cruises) can book port excursions starting 123 days before sailing — the earliest window for any guest tier.
Platinum Castaway Club members (10–24 cruises) can book port excursions starting 120 days before sailing.
Begin comparing Disney-offered excursions vs. third-party operators for each port. Disney excursions carry a ship guarantee (if they run late, the ship waits), but typically cost 20–40% more than independent operators.
105–90 Days Out
Gold Castaway Club members (5–9 cruises) can book port excursions AND specialty dining — Palo, Remy, Enchanté — starting 105 days before sailing.
Silver Castaway Club members (1–4 cruises) can book port excursions and specialty dining starting 90 days before sailing.
These adult-only restaurants open on the same Castaway Club tier windows as excursions. Palo ($40/person) is on all ships; Remy ($125+/person) is on Fantasy & Dream; Enchanté is on the Wish.
Senses Spa opens appointments on the same Castaway Club tier windows. Popular treatments like couples massages and hot stone services fill quickly for popular sailings.
75 Days Out
First-time Disney cruisers (no Castaway Club tier) can book port excursions and specialty dining starting 75 days before sailing. This is the final tier window — act fast, top options are already picked over.
The It's a Small World Nursery (ages 6 months–3 years) has limited spots and requires advance reservations. Book immediately when your window opens if you have an infant or toddler.
Final payment is typically due 90–120 days before sailing depending on your booking type. Verify YOUR specific deadline — missing it can trigger automatic cancellation.
45–30 Days Out
Online check-in opens approximately 40 days before sailing for most guests. Complete it IMMEDIATELY — earlier completion earns you the earliest port arrival window, which means 2–3 hours more ship time than late-arrivers.
During online check-in, select your port arrival window. The earliest window (typically 10:30–11:00am) means you board when the gangway first opens and have the ship nearly to yourself.
All guests — including children — must complete health screening questions as part of online check-in. Have medical information accessible for the whole party.
If you own a MagicBand+, link it to your Disney account and cruise reservation. It can unlock your stateroom door and serve as your onboard payment method.
We strongly recommend arriving the night before embarkation day. Flight delays are common — DCL will NOT hold the ship for late passengers, no matter the reason.
Disney offers port transfers from the airport. Third-party services (Mears, Go Port, private car) are often 30–40% cheaper — especially for families of 4+.
Fish Extenders are a beloved community tradition where guests exchange small gifts through stateroom fish hooks. Join a Fish Extender group on Facebook for your specific sailing.
Wi-Fi packages purchased pre-cruise through the Navigator app are 10–15% cheaper than buying onboard. Ship Wi-Fi is satellite-based (slower than home) but functional for most tasks.
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage packages are slightly discounted when purchased pre-cruise through the Navigator.
During online check-in, link a credit card to your onboard account. All purchases are cashless — they accumulate on your account and settle at end of cruise.
14 Days Out
Lay out all cruise clothing including formal night attire (at least one per 7-night sailing), pirate night gear, port casual outfits, and swimwear. Doing this two weeks out leaves time to buy anything missing.
Luggage tags are in your online check-in documents. Print them, fold per instructions, and attach to all checked bags before heading to port.
Reconfirm flights, seat assignments, and verify itineraries haven't shifted. Airlines change schedules regularly — a 30-minute departure change could affect port shuttle timing.
Monitor forecasts for your departure port and each destination. Caribbean weather in summer brings tropical systems; hurricane season officially runs June–November.
Charge your MagicBands before leaving home. Ship charging opportunities are limited and you want full power on embarkation day.
Update the Navigator app to the latest version before sailing. Large app updates on slow ship satellite Wi-Fi are frustrating and waste time on your first day.
7 Days Out
Run your complete packing list one last time. Commonly forgotten: reef-safe sunscreen (required at some ports), seasickness medication, power strips (no surge protectors — prohibited onboard), and a small nightlight for kids.
Confirm pet sitters or boarding, request USPS mail hold, set light timers, and notify your bank of travel dates to prevent automatic fraud holds on your cards.
Reconfirm airport-to-port and port-to-airport transportation. Verify pickup times, locations, and save the service contact number in your phone.
Most airlines open check-in 24 hours before departure. Check in online, confirm seat assignments, and download boarding passes to your phone.
The Navigator app shows the daily schedule once unlocked for your sailing. Review embarkation day activities so you can hit the ground running — especially character times and restaurant hours.
Day of Sailing
Arrive during — not before — your assigned port arrival time. DCL strictly enforces boarding windows and early arrivals are turned away to wait in their car.
Every passenger needs: valid passport (or birth certificate + government ID for closed-loop cruises), boarding documents from online check-in, and completed health forms.
Port porters collect your checked luggage at curbside — it'll be delivered to your stateroom door within a few hours. Keep a carry-on with essentials: swimsuit, medications, travel documents, and valuables.
Staterooms aren't ready until 1:30–2:00pm. Grab lunch at the Cabanas buffet, explore deck layouts, visit guest services, and enjoy the ship at its least crowded moment.
Once announced, drop your carry-on and meet your stateroom host. Note the emergency number posted in the room and locate your nearest muster station.
All guests must complete the safety drill before sailing. Modern format: watch a short safety video in the Navigator app, then physically check in at your assigned muster station.
Onboard
At every port you have options: stay onboard (pools are gloriously empty), do a DCL excursion (ship guarantee if they run late), book a third-party tour, or explore independently. Have a plan before you dock.
Room service from the stateroom menu is available 24 hours and most items are included in your cruise fare. A handful of premium items carry a small surcharge.
Popular characters (Mickey, Minnie, Disney Princesses) have designated meet & greet times in the atrium. Lines can reach 45–60 minutes for the most popular characters during peak windows.
Disney's private Bahamian island is the highlight of most Caribbean sailings. Snorkel gear, bikes, and loungers are available to rent. A full BBQ lunch is included in your cruise fare.
Post-Cruise
Disney's PhotoPass photos — taken by ship photographers and at Castaway Cay — expire exactly 45 days after disembarkation. This deadline is strictly enforced with no exceptions.
Share your experience on Google, TripAdvisor, and the Disney Cruise Line website. Your honest reviews directly help future cruisers make better decisions.
Disney's Onboard Booking offer typically includes $200–$500 in onboard credit when you book your next sailing before disembarking. This is the single best deal Disney offers on future cruises.
After your cruise, Disney sometimes sends loyalty offers, promotions, and upgrade incentives to past guests. Keep an eye on your email and Disney account.
